Finally upgraded from a pirated copy of Illustrator 2013 to paid CC. It’s basically the same, but at least now I get updates.

I just cannot bring myself to pay for a Creative Suite subscription or any subscription software. I switched to other alternatives. I use Pixelmator for image editing and iStudio for page layout, for example.

Do you have a history with photoshop? If so, how’d the switch go for you? I was quite the photoshop wizard for many years, but ever since subscription, I stopped playing with it. I’d have to fire up a real old computer for a lifetime-copy, haha.

Yes, I did. the switch was pretty painless. I tried Acorn and Pixelmator and went with the latter. Their are lots of online tutorials when I can’t figure something out. The only thing it still can’t do is something I do with microscope fluorescence images. I switch to RGB mode and will cut out two of the three channels so I can have only one channel showing. Pixelmator still doesn’t do that as easily, and I have to work around it with levels. But, I make do. I like it.

Here’s a pic of an actual yacht*.
*I’m too far away to actually get a good pic.

I’ll probably get around to putting it up on Society6 in a bit.

I’m fine with subscriptions for the most part, but CC is totally gouging. At least at the student price I’m paying now it’s more reasonable.

Noice!
